CERN, Neutrinos and OPERA!

Interesting stuff, this neutrino news from CERN and OPERA. Or at least I think so.

Doubtless you've all read about it now, but an article from the paper I read is below:

And here is an argument by Professor Jim Al-Khalili of Surrey University as to why we should not get too excited by all of this, and the answers that still need to be found. (The guy is a veritable genius. Here in the UK he does quite a lot of the complex science programs, and did a fantastic history of electricity mini-series.):

each day we seem to push our knoledge of how things work further and further,

I hope soon this will lead to more things that we can develope, ho knows even warp drive may soon be a thing of the past for us.

I read ages back that they had sucessfuly managed to transport 1 atom (I think) from one location to another. How much longer I wounder till nearly everything we see in sci-fi programs like Star Trek just become another gadget that we all have look at the mobile (cell) phone for example how far that has come in such a short space of time.

Transporting an atom is quite different to transporting whole objects though. The energy needed is massive. And people? You would be destroying yourself, sending your data to somewhere else and be recreated there. The problem? Your brain would be devoid of any knowledge. Even your instincts: kaput.

Would it though? Doesn't that assume that your consciousness is derived from more than just your brain i.e. something outside of it?

It is though. It is an array of quantum decisions, it's basically binary energy in all dimensions. We only transport ourselves through 3 dimensions while not interfering with the ordinary movement through the fourth. Memories are based on movements in other directions in the fourth and fifth dimensions. Ergo, they're destroyed because that information is not retained in the transport.
