Cerberus Logistics System

I will be working to introduce the Cerberus Logistic System and it's components to the fleet over the next several weeks. This is a system that I and members of my crew designed in a previous fleet to meet numerous operational needs. This system is an exercise in interoperability and multi-roll systems. The system is comprised of many different components, including Transports, Ground Vehicles, and Starship modifications for the inclusion of Cerberus Bays and operational system equipment integration. Also included with this system are quite a few accessories and extras...even neat little items like snowcats, forklifts (wheeled/anti-grav), and tons of tiny little detaining items. And the Modules...lots and lots of modules. Modules for anything and everything.

Background

In 2385 Starfleet’s budget oversight committee formed a working group to look at cost cutting measures that could be implemented across the board. This is what has come to be known as the Total Ownership Cost Reduction Imperative, and has been ordered to be implemented in all aspects of Starfleet operations. As such, Starfleet Logistics Command has actively pursued the development of the next generation of transport craft. A two year research and development program was initiated and carried out at both the Utopia Planitia and Beta Antares Ship Yards, in cooperation with Cerberus Logistics. The end result of this program was what has been named the Cerberus Logistics System. For Starfleet this was to include two specialized craft of differing size that both utilized the same Module system, and also integrated into a starship and ground vehicle transport system as well.

Under Admiral McLaughlin, Cerberus Logistics implemented system in 2389, introducing two specialized transports and a number of ground vehicles into Starfleet's inventory. Additionally, modifications were began on select starbases and starships to integrate the system, creating specialized bays to allow Cerberus operations. At the same time, several private companies and local government agencies were buying into the system as well. And while Starfleet was only interested in a limited implementation to start with, the private sector was much more lucrative for Cerberus Logistics and her partner firms. To date, private sector sales have outpaced Starfleet sales by a factor of forty to one.


Main Components (Starfleet)

Starfleet approved and purchased the production rights to two new craft, the Polaris class and Titan class Transports. Additionally, a modification for the Firefly class Transport to allow for the use of the Cerberus Modules was approved to allow for a more rapid implementation. At the same time, Ankar Transport Systems introduced several new ground vehicles and trailers to work within the Cerberus system. New cargo management tools for the Brunel class and Sphinx class workpods were rolled out form Utopia Planitia.


Module Sizes:

All Modules are 5 meters in Height, with the exception of the Piggyback Modules (2.5 meters).


Mini Module: Half Space

• Length: 3 Meters

• Width: 2.5 Meters


Standard Module:

• Length: 6 Meters

• Width: 2.5 Meters


Extended Module:

• Length: 6 Meters

• Width : 5 Meters


Vehicle Module:

• Length: 9/14 Meters (Hercules vehicle or trailer requires an extra-long container or extension)

• Width: 4 Meters


Piggyback Module: Various Lengths (Designed for use with civilian trailer chassis and rail units)

• Length: 16.0/14.5/13.75/12.2/6.0 Meters

• Width: 2.5 Meters

• Height: 2.5 Meters

• Trailer Chassis Lengths: 16.0/14.5/13.75/12.2 Meter Fixed Chassis, 6.0 Meter Slider Chassis (Rear wheel module slides out to allow additional trailers to be linked.), 12.2-16.0 Extendable Chassis


Oversize Modules vary in dimensions, some even filling the entire bay. A comprehensive list of available Modules will be listed later in this report.
The Modules

The heart of the Cerberus Logistics System is the many Modules that make up the transport’s manifest. The simple beauty of this system is that even given a situation where a Module had to be custom built for an application; any ship in the system could recover or transport it. • ARGO Module (Can carry 4 ARGOs or MARGOs)

• Cargo Module

• Medivac Module

• Troop Transport Module (24 Marines/Security Personnel)

• Industrial Replication Module

• Marine HQ Module

• Ground Vehicle System Module

• Recon Module -Long Range Sensor System

• Repair/Salvage Module w/multiple internal and external hardpoints

• Science Module -Long Range Sensor System


Oversize Modules:

• Medivac Module (Occupies 2 Standard plus 1 Extended Module space)

• Cargo Module (Various Sizes)

• Troop Transport Module (60 Marines/Security Personnel; Occupies 2 Standard plus 1 Extended Module space)


Vehicle Modules:

• Each Module Carries 1 Vehicle plus extra supplies/ammunition

• Each Vehicle Module contains jump seats for vehicle personnel to utilize during deployment

• Vehicle Module may be configured as a portable repair station
